15 July 2025, 18:05  USA: Core CPI Rises Less than Expected.

Core consumer prices in the US, which exclude food and energy, rose by 0.2% from the previous month in June of 2025 following the 0.1% increase in May. It was slightly under market expectations that the index would rise by 0.3%, marking five consecutive months that core inflation was below expectations. Prices rebounded for apparel (0.4 vs -0.4% in May) and transportation services (0.2% vs -0.2%), while they rose faster for medical care services (0.6% vs 0.2%). In turn, they slowed for shelter (0.2% vs 0.3%) and medical care commodities (0.1% vs 0.6%), while costs for used cars and trucks fell for the fourth month running (-0.7% vs -0.5%).
