Total passenger vehicle sales in India dropped by 6.3% year-on-year to a six-month low of 275,766 units in June 2025, reversing a 0.8% rise in the previous month, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The figures exclude sales from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), and Volvo. This marked the first decline in passenger vehicle sales in nine months, due to weak demand in urban areas. Still, SIAM struck a note of cautious optimism for the July–September quarter, citing the upcoming festive season and early signs of a demand pickup. On a monthly basis, sales plunged 9.0%, following a 0.2% drop in May.
