14 July 2025, 16:29 Poland: Current Account Deficit Deepens in May.
Poland recorded a current account deficit of EUR 1,740 million in May 2025, widening from EUR 468 million a year earlier - marking the 13th consecutive month in deficit. The goods trade gap rose to EUR 1,443 million, from EUR 1,098 million in May 2024. Imports grew to EUR 29,631 million (vs. EUR 28,159 million), driven by arms deliveries, consumer goods, and agricultural products. However, falling oil prices - amid global declines and a weaker dollar - helped contain overall import growth. Exports rose to EUR 28,188 million (vs. EUR 27,061 million), with strong performance in toys, clothing, pharmaceuticals, and buses. Higher imports in these same categories suggest some re-exports. The primary income deficit widened to EUR 3,286 million (vs. EUR 2,547 million), and the secondary income account posted a EUR 264 million deficit, compared to EUR 27 million last year. The services surplus slightly increased to EUR 3,253 million, from EUR 3,204 million.
