France's current account deficit widened sharply to EUR 3.1 billion in May 2025, from EUR 1 billion in the same month of the previous year. The primary income surplus decreased slightly to EUR 2.79 billion in May 2025 from EUR 2.81 billion a year earlier, while the secondary income shortfall rose to EUR 3.1 billion from EUR 2.5 billion. On the other hand, the goods account deficit narrowed to EUR 65.2 billion from EUR 67.6 billion in May 2024, while the services account surplus increased to EUR 60.3 billion from EUR 46 billion.
