10 July 2025, 15:15 Portugal: Inflation Confirmed at 4-Month High.
The annual inflation rate in Portugal rose to 2.4% in June of 2025 from 3.2% in the previous month, the highest since February, and aligned with preliminary estimates. Inflation was higher for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.1% vs 2.6% in May), transportation (1.8% vs 1%), and restaurants and hotels (6.8% vs 6.1%). On the other hand, inflation slowed for housing and utilities (2.1% vs 4.2%). In the meantime, the EU-harmonized inflation rate was at 2.1%, picking up from the 1.7% rate from the previous month to marginally surpass the European Central Bank's target of 2%. From the previous month, Portuguese consumer prices edged higher by 0.1%, also aligned with the preliminary estimate.
