9 July 2026, 16:42 Czech Republic: Industrial Output Hits 4-Month High.
Industrial production in the Czech Republic increased 2.0% year-on-year in May 2026, marking its strongest growth in four months after a 1.5% rise in April. Manufacturing output accelerated (2.2% vs 1.8% in April), supported by a sharp increase in the manufacture of leather and related products (38.4% vs 1.2%). Other key contributors included the manufacture of wearing apparel (14.7% vs 0.2%), basic pharmaceutical products and preparations (6.0% vs -8.9%), and computer, electronic and optical products (16.7% vs 11.0%). Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply rose further 2.1% from a 0.9% increase in April. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying output continued to contract, though the decline eased to 8.3% from 12.9% in the previous month. On a monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.4% in May 2026, reversing a 1.4% increase in the previous month.
