30 July 2026, 15:42  Brazil: Loan Growth Edges Up.

The value of outstanding loans from the Brazilian financial sector rose by 0.7% from the previous month to R$7.4 trillion in June 2026. Loans extended to corporations rose 1.5% to R$2.7 trillion, while household lending edged up 0.2% to R$4.6 trillion. On an annual basis, total credit expanded 9.7%, slightly above the 9.6% growth recorded in May. Household lending continued to outpace corporate credit, rising 10.8% year-on-year, although easing from 11.2%, while lending to legal entities accelerated to 7.9% from 6.9%. Meanwhile, credit with free resources totaled R$4.2 trillion, up 0.7% from the previous month and 7.5% from a year earlier, as stronger corporate lending partly offset a monthly decline in household credit, which nevertheless remained higher than a year earlier.
