30 July 2026, 12:56  Cyprus: Industrial Output Growth Eases Further in May

Industrial production in Cyprus inched up 0.5% year-on-year in May 2026, slowing from an upwardly revised 1.9% increase in the previous month. The deceleration reflected weaker activity across mining and quarrying (0.5% vs. 4.5% in April), manufacturing (0.8% vs. 0.9%), mainly due to slower output of basic metals and fabricated metal products, electricity supply (0.0% vs. 8.3%), and water collection, treatment and supply (10.1% vs. 15.2%). Meanwhile, water supply reversed into contraction (-3.4% vs. 4.3%), while materials recovery remained in decline, with output falling at a steeper pace (-19.6% vs. -9.1%). For the January-May period, industrial output grew 1.5% compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
