Electronic technology stocks continued to decline amid concerns over returns on AI investment, falling 0.4% after plunging 3.8% in the previous session, mainly weighed down by Hon Hai Precision Industry (-3.2%), Nanya Technology (-7.2%), and Quanta Computer (-9.9%). However, TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker, which accounts for more than 40% of the market's total value, rose 0.2%, rebounding from a 2.2% decline a day earlier after being included among the top 100 companies in this year's Fortune Global 500 for the first time. Meanwhile, moderating oil prices eased inflation concerns and expectations of an interest rate hike, limiting the decline.
