Ireland’s economy expanded 3.9% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2026, rebounding from a 7.0% contraction in the previous quarter and ending two consecutive quarters of decline, according to preliminary estimates. This marked the strongest growth since Q1 2025, driven mainly by an increase in the multinational-dominated information and communication sector. On an annual basis, GDP fell 1.6% in Q2, easing from a 13% decline in the previous quarter and marking the third consecutive quarter of contraction after five straight quarters of growth.
