29 July 2026, 12:07 Italy: Industrial Sales Rise 0.6% MoM in May.
Italy’s industrial turnover increased 0.6% month-on-month in May 2026, after a revised 0.2% fall in the previous month. Foreign sales rebounded (1.6% vs -0.8% in April), while domestic sales rose at a softer pace (0.1% vs 0.2%). On a yearly basis, industrial turnover, adjusted for calendar effects, grew 5.3%, accelerating from a revised 2.7% rise in April, driven by higher sales in both the domestic (4.7% vs 2.8%) and foreign markets (6.6% vs 2.4%). By industrial group, the energy sector continued to post the strongest growth (28.6%), followed by capital goods (6.6%) and intermediate goods (6.1%), while consumer goods sales decreased (-1.4%). Meanwhile, turnover in the services sector edged up 0.2% month-on-month after remaining unchanged in April, supported mainly by growth in other services (0.4%).
