15 July 2026, 14:10  France: Stocks Fall Middle East Jitters.

The CAC 40 fell 0.3% to 8,340 on Wednesday, following a subdued performance in the previous session, as investors continued to assess the impact of escalating tensions in the Middle East. The US launched another wave of strikes against Iran while reinstating its naval blockade of Iranian ports near the Strait of Hormuz, intensifying concerns over regional stability, potential disruptions to global energy supplies, and a further surge in oil prices. Meanwhile, investors also turned their attention to the upcoming earnings season. Industrial and financial stocks weighed on the index, with Airbus falling 1.3%, Safran losing 1.2%, Air Liquide dropping 1.6%, BNP Paribas down 1.1%, and AXA declining 1.3%. In contrast, luxury stocks outperformed, with LVMH rising 2.6%, Hermes gaining 2.2%, and Kering advancing 3.0% on optimism that the global personal luxury goods market is recovering after Bain & Company noted stronger-than-expected Q2 demand, particularly in the US.
