14 July 2026, 13:26 Germany: DAX Falls on Tuesday.
The DAX 40 traded slightly lower around 25,000 on Tuesday, following yesterday's mild advance, amid escalating US-Iran tensions. The announced reinstatement of a U.S. blockade around Iranian ports and President Trump's proposal to levy a 20% fee on cargo transiting the Strait of Hormuz have pushed oil prices sharply higher, raising fears of renewed inflationary pressures and tighter monetary policy. Meanwhile, investors turned their attention to the start of the US Q2 earnings season, with major banks kicking off the reporting calendar. Most sectors were under pressure, particularly consumer cyclicals, industrials, software, pharmaceuticals, and retail, while chemicals, autos, and utilities bucked the trend.
