8 June 2026, 11:24 Czech Republic: Construction Output at 5-Month High.
Construction output in the Czech Republic rose by 7.7% year-on-year in April 2026 from an upwardly revised 6.4% rise in the previous month and marking the strongest growth since November 2025. Building construction activity picked up to 12.1% from 9.4% in March, while the decline in civil engineering works moderated slightly to 0.4% from 0.5%. A total of 5,889 building permits were issued, up 14.7% from a year earlier, while the floor area of new building projects expanded by 40.3%. Meanwhile, housing starts surged 89.7% to 5,100 units, supported by family houses and a higher number of permits granted for large residential developments, mainly in Prague. In contrast, completed dwellings fell 10.7% year-on-year to 2,582 units. On a monthly basis, construction activity grew by 0.6% in April, down from a 1% gain in March.
