8 June 2026, 10:43 Lithuania: Inflation Rate Near 3-Year High.
Lithuania’s annual inflation rate rose to 5.5% in May 2026 from 5.3% in the previous month, marking the highest level since August 2023. Prices increased faster for housing and utilities (8.3% vs 7.1% in April), transport (16.2% vs 14.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.7% vs 7.6%), health (3.6% vs 2.8%), information and communication (3.6% vs 2.8%), education (4.4% vs 3.5%), restaurants and accommodation (6.5% vs 6.3%), insurance and financial services (5.0% vs 4.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (4.7% vs 4.1%). Conversely, prices were unchanged for food and non-alcoholic beverages after rising 0.9% previously, while inflation eased in furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (0.8% vs 2.0%) and recreation, sport, and culture (6.7% vs 7.3%). Deflation also continued in clothing and footwear (-0.6% vs -0.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.1% in May, following a 0.6% increase in the previous month.
