30 June 2026, 10:41  United Kingdom: GDP Growth Confirmed at 0.6% in Q1.

The UK economy expanded by 0.6% quarter-on-quarter in Q1 2026, confirming preliminary estimates and accelerating from a revised 0.1% growth in Q4. This marked the strongest quarterly expansion since Q1 2025. Services output, the main growth driver, rose by 0.8%, up from 0.1%, led by professional, scientific and technical activities (+2.3%) and wholesale and retail trade (+1.8%). Production output increased by 0.2%, supported by a 0.7% rise in manufacturing and a 1.2% increase in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, partly offset by declines in mining and quarrying (-4.7%) and water supply (-0.7%). Construction also grew by 0.2%, as repair and maintenance increased 3.3%, while new work fell 2.1%. Annually, the economy expanded 0.9% in Q1 2026, revised down from the preliminary estimate of 1.1% and matching the revised pace recorded in the previous quarter.
