The annual inflation rate in Luxembourg eased to 2.3% in May 2026 from 3.1% in the previous month. Price growth slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.0% vs 2.4%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (2.5% vs 3.2%), housing and utilities (3.3% vs 4.4%), health (0.7% vs 1.8%), transportation (5.9% vs 6.3%), and restaurants and hotels (2.9% vs 3.3%). At the same time, prices for furniture and household equipment declined (-0.4% vs 1.0%), while inflation for clothing and footwear was unchanged after rising 0.2% in April. In contrast, price growth increased for information and communication (1.6% vs -0.1%) and recreation and culture (3.1% vs 2.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.2% in May, reversing a 1.2% increase in April and marking the first monthly decline since January.
