22 June 2026, 10:52 Poland: Producer Prices Rise for 3rd Month.
Producer prices in Poland rose by 2.4% year-on-year in May 2026, slightly below market expectations for a 2.5% gain but accelerating from an upwardly revised 2.1% increase in the previous month. The latest reading also marked the third consecutive month of growth in producer prices after thirty-two straight months of deflation. Among the sections in industry, price increases were recorded in the mining and quarrying sector, where producer prices rose 4.3% (vs 3.1% in April). Within the sector, prices for metal ore mining jumped 11.5%, while coal and lignite mining fell 3.4%. Producer inflation also rose in the manufacturing sector (2.8% vs 2.5%), and in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities (1.3% vs 1.1%). In contrast, costs in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector were 1.6% lower than in May 2025 (vs -1.5%). On a monthly basis, producer prices stalled in May, following an upwardly revised 0.6% gain in the preceding period.
