15 June 2026, 10:45  Romania: Industrial Output Falls to 3-Month Low.

Industrial production in Romania fell 3.1% year-on-year in April 2026, following a downwardly revised 2.1% decline in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since January, as manufacturing output contracted further (-4.4% vs -3.2% in March), particularly in basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations; other non-metallic mineral products; basic metals; electrical equipment; motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers; furniture; and other manufacturing. At the same time, activity in the mining and quarrying sector declined (-1.0% vs 1.3%), weighed by continued drops in the mining of coal and lignite, the extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas, and other mining and quarrying activities. Growth in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply also eased (3.4% vs 4.6%). On a monthly basis, industrial output rose 1.5%, the strongest increase since April last year, after an upwardly revised 0.4% gain in March.
