9 April 2026, 15:11  Lithuania: Inflation Rate Hits Over 2

Lithuania’s annual inflation rate rose to 4.8% in March 2026 from 3.6% in the previous month, marking the highest level since August 2023. Prices increased mainly for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.9% vs 7.3% in February), housing and utilities (6.5% vs 4.4%), health (3.0% vs 2.9%), recreation, sport, and culture (7.8% vs 7.4%), education (3.4% vs 3.3%), and restaurants and accommodation (6.0% vs 5.6%). At the same time, transport costs rebounded sharply (8.3% vs -0.5%), while deflation eased slightly for furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance (-0.5% vs -0.6%). Conversely, inflation eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.4% vs 4.0%), clothing and footwear (0.4% vs 1.1%), information and communication (1.7% vs 2.7%), and miscellaneous goods and services (5.6% vs 5.9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.5% in March, following a 1.1% increase in the previous month.
