Indonesia's budget deficit in the first quarter of 2026 stood at IDR 240.1 trillion, or 0.93% of GDP, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said on Monday. Government expenditure jumped 31.3% year-on-year to IDR 815 trillion, while revenues rose by 10.5% to IDR 574.9 trillion. Government revenue was supported by tax receipts of IDR 394.8 trillion, a 20.7% increase. Meanwhile, customs and excise revenues were recorded at IDR 67.9 trillion, a 12.6% decline, while non-tax state revenues stood at IDR 112.1 trillion, also down 3%. Total government spending consisted of central government expenditure of IDR 610.3 trillion, which increased significantly by 47.7%, as well as transfers to regions amounting to IDR 204.8 trillion, which declined slightly by 1.1%.
