30 April 2026, 04:46 New Zealand: RBNZ to Disclose MPC Votes, Boosting Policy Clarity.
New Zealand will begin publishing individual votes cast by members of the central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) when consensus is not reached, a move aimed at enhancing transparency and public understanding of monetary decisions. The policy change, effective Thursday, was agreed by Finance Minister Nicola Willis and the Reserve Bank’s MPC, which sets the official cash rate. Willis said the reforms ease restrictions, giving members more freedom to discuss policy publicly while ensuring equal access to information. Governor Anna Breman added the changes to strengthen transparency around members’ views, bolstering accountability.
