2 April 2026, 05:01  USA: Dollar Rises After Trump’ Speech.

The dollar index rose to 99.8 on Thursday, snapping a two-day decline, after President Donald Trump offered no clarity on when the Middle East conflict might end. Trump, in a rare prime-time speech, said Washington’s “core strategic objectives” in Iran were close to being achieved, but also threatened further severe strikes on the country over the next two to three weeks, reinforcing uncertainty in global markets. On Wednesday, Trump said that Iran's president wanted a ceasefire in the war, a claim Tehran quickly denied. The dollar also drew support from fading expectations of Federal Reserve rate cuts this year, as the conflict has triggered a sharp rise in oil prices, raising concerns over a spike in inflation.
