Slovenia recorded a trade deficit of EUR 1,149.8 million in January 2026, a sharp reversal from a surplus of EUR 296.6 million in the same month last year, as exports fell much faster than imports. Exports plunged 22.8% year-on-year to EUR 4,188.7 million due to a sharp decline in sales to non-EU countries (-46.7), while shipments to the EU increased (9.1%). Imports dropped 5.0% to EUR 5,338.4 million, amid reduced purchases from both the EU (-4.5%) and non-EU countries (-5.4%).
