17 March 2026, 11:46 Kyrgyzstan: Inflation Hits 31-Month High.
The annual inflation rate in Kyrgyzstan rose to 9.7% in February 2026 from 9.5% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since July 2023, driven by higher costs for clothing and footwear (5.1% vs 3.9% in January), household items (7.3% vs 6.2%), and recreation and cultural activities (12.2% vs 10%). Prices also increased for restaurants and hotels (15.9% vs 6.7%) and miscellaneous goods and services (18% vs 16.1%). On the other hand, inflation softened for food and non-alcoholic beverages (8.8% vs 9.9%), housing and utilities (14.1% vs 14.9%), and education (22.4% vs 23%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 1.2% in February, accelerating from a 0.8% gain in the preceding period.
