9 February 2026, 14:44  Slovenia: Inflation Eases Slightly in January.

The annual inflation rate in Slovenia edged down to 2.6% in January 2026 from 2.7% in the previous month. Prices increase at a softer pace mainly for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.2% vs 4.5% in December), education (3.9% vs 4.2%), restaurants and hotels (2.3% vs 4%), and miscellaneous goods and services (1.3% vs 2.6%). At the same time, costs continued to decline for transport (-2% vs -0.7%). In contrast, inflation increased further for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.5% vs 4.3%), clothing and footwear (2.6% vs 1.1%), and housing and utilities (4.6% vs 4.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.5% in January, after showing no growth in the preceding period. The harmonized CPI rose by 2.4% year-on-year, following a 2.6% gain in December. On average, Slovenia’s inflation rate for 2025 stood at 2.4%.
