4 February 2026, 09:27 Europe: Stocks Set for Lower Open.
European equity markets were set to open lower on Wednesday, pressured by a global tech selloff amid rising concerns over AI-driven disruption across key sectors. Software stocks came under particular strain after AI startup Anthropic unveiled a productivity tool for in-house lawyers, weighing on shares linked to legal software and data services. In Europe, investors awaited January Eurozone inflation data for clues on the region’s monetary policy outlook. The European Central Bank and the Bank of England are both scheduled to announce policy decisions on Thursday and are widely expected to keep interest rates unchanged. In premarket trading, Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 futures were each down about 0.1%.
