European stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, holding most of the gains from the previous session as gains for traditional sectors of the economy offset aggressive losses in the tech sector. The Eurozone's STOXX 50 dropped 0.3% to 5,990 and the pan-European STOXX 600 was unchanged at yesterday's record high of 617. Tech shares tracked the losses for their US counterparts after the open of North American markets to reflect persistent unease on high valuations of AI companies and chip producers. ASML lost 2.8% while SAP fell nearly 5%, extending its post-earnings volatile momentum. In turn, UniCredit and ING both gained more than 2% to set a strong session for banks.
