3 February 2026, 07:23 Taiwan: Consumer Confidence Rises to 9-Month High.
Taiwan’s consumer confidence index rose to 67.16 in January 2026 from 64.30 in December 2025, marking the highest reading since May 2025. Gains were seen across all components of the index, with the largest increase recorded in expectations for consumer prices over the next six months (37.34 vs 32.82), followed by stock market investment sentiment (29.52 vs 26.37) and household financial outlook (80.39 vs 77.68). Domestic economic expectations (83.69 vs 81.39), durable goods purchases (98.20 vs 95.94), and employment opportunities (73.80 vs 71.60) also rose. The improvement reflected stronger confidence after the US-Taiwan tariff agreement lowered import tariffs to 15%, easing uncertainty.
