Gold production in South Africa increased by 1.1% year-on-year in December 2025, rebounding from a 6% fall in the previous month. This marked the first annual increase since September and contributed 0.1 percentage point to overall mining output growth. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, gold production surged by 7.4%, recovering strongly from a sharp 10.3% decline in November.
