11 February 2026, 20:31 France: CAC 40 Edges Lower.
The CAC 40 closed 0.2% lower at 8,313 on Thursday as steep losses in technology and luxury heavyweights dragged the index despite firm gains in energy and cyclicals. Dassault Systemes plunged 20.8% to multi-year lows after weak guidance, pressuring the broader tech space and pulling Capgemini and Publicis down more than 8%, while LVMH fell 2.3%, Kering slid 2.9%, and Airbus dropped 2.3%. On the other hand, TotalEnergies jumped 2.7% to its highest level since July 2024 on firmer crude prices, while Schneider Electric rose 3.5% and ArcelorMittal surged 4.7%, offering cyclical support. Orange gained 4.3% and ENGIE added 2.5%, highlighting resilience in defensive segments. Financials were softer, with BNP Paribas and Societe Generale edging lower. Investors also monitored the political backdrop ahead of next year’s presidential election, as polls point to a credible National Rally bid, though business leaders remain cautious over fiscal clarity.
