Net borrowing of mortgage debt by UK individuals increased to GBP 4.5 billion in November 2025, following a decrease of GBP 1.0 billion to GBP 4.2 billion in October, in line with market expectations. In November, gross lending decreased by GBP 0.6 billion to GBP 23.7 billion, while gross repayments decreased by GBP 3.1 billion to GBP 19.4 billion. The annual growth rate for net mortgage lending increased to 3.3% in November, from 3.2% in the previous month, the highest since January 2023 (3.4%).
