Retail sales in Spain rose by 2.9% year-on-year in December 2025, following a 6% surge in the previous month. Sales increased the most for non-food products (+3.6%), of which household equipment (+3.6%) and personal equipment (+2.2%). Spending on food rose at a slower 2.9%. Sales turnover showed notable increases in large chain stores (+7.7%) and e-commerce (+7.4%), offset by a 2.8% decline in department stores. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade fell by 0.8% in December, the most since January 2025, after a 1% increase in the month before. For the full year of 2025, retail sales increased 4.3% over a year ago.
