22 January 2026, 04:14  USA: Futures Edge Higher as Greenland Tensions Ease.

US stock futures edged higher on Thursday as geopolitical and trade tensions between Washington and Europe eased. President Donald Trump said he and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte had reached a framework for a future agreement over Greenland, so he would no longer impose punitive tariffs on European nations as previously threatened. Trump also earlier stated in a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos that he would not seek to acquire Greenland by force. In regular trading on Wednesday, the Dow rose 1.21%, the S&P 500 gained 1.16% and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.18%, recouping part of Tuesday’s losses. Investors are now looking ahead to the latest weekly jobless claims data and earnings from Procter & Gamble, GE Aerospace and Intel, among others. In extended trading, Intel shares jumped nearly 12% as investors positioned ahead of the company’s quarterly results.
