The CAC 40 fell 1.8% to close at 8,112 on Monday, sliding to its lowest level since late December as escalating trade tensions between the US and Europe weighed heavily on risk appetite. President Donald Trump threatened tariffs of up to 25% on several European countries unless Washington secures control of Greenland, prompting EU officials to revive plans for retaliatory duties on as much as €93 billion of US goods. Losses were led by luxury stocks, with LVMH (-4.3%), Hermes (-3.5%), and Kering (-4.1%) underperforming on concerns over global demand and trade exposure.
