12 January 2026, 22:30  United Kingdom: FTSE 100 Hits New Record Led by Gold Miners.

The FTSE 100 rose 0.2% to a record 10,141 on Monday, lifted by a strong rally in mining stocks. Gold miners surged as the price of the metal hit a new record, with Fresnillo up 6.5% and Endeavour up 3.6%, while Glencore (3%), Rio Tinto (1.6%) and Anglo American (1.4%) also advanced. On the other hand, Barclays dropped more than 2% after US President Trump called for a one-year cap on credit card interest rates at 10%. On the economic front, a survey by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation and KPMG showed UK employers cut back hiring in December as businesses contended with rising costs and weak sentiment following Labour’s tax-raising budget in November.
