9 December 2025, 21:57 Italy: Financials Lift FTSE MIB Ahead of Fed Meeting.
The FTSE MIB rose 0.3% to close at 43,574 on Tuesday, supported by gains in financials, though caution ahead of the US Fed’s two-day policy meeting limited the advance. The sector climbed after JPMorgan upgrades and a positive 2026 outlook. Mediolanum led the index, jumping 3.2% after receiving an “overweight” rating and a target price hike to €22 from €20. Fineco gained 0.7% after an “overweight” rating and a target increase to €26.5 from €23.1. Generali rose 3%, UniCredit 0.9%, and Intesa Sanpaolo 0.8%. Leonardo advanced 2.6%, buoyed by strength in European defense stocks following news that German lawmakers are set to approve €52 billion in procurement contracts. On the downside, Stellantis fell 1.8% as investors took profits and awaited the EU’s December 16 regulatory package, expected to ease limits for the auto sector.
