9 December 2025, 09:37 Europe: Markets Set for Subdued Open.
European equity markets were poised for a muted open on Tuesday as investors awaited an expected interest rate cut from the US Federal Reserve this week, even as the rates outlook for 2026 grows increasingly uncertain. Rising bond yields also pressured equities, with the benchmark 10-year US Treasury yield nearing three-month highs. In Europe, the Swiss National Bank is expected to keep its policy rate at 0% this week. Meanwhile, ECB policymaker Isabel Schnabel signaled she is comfortable with market expectations that the central bank’s next move could be a rate hike. On the data front, investors will parse Germany’s October trade figures. In premarket trade, Euro Stoxx 50 and Stoxx 600 futures drifted flat to slightly negative.
