31 December 2025, 15:25  Italy: FTSE MIB Inches Up at Close.

The FTSE MIB rose 0.1% to close at 44,970 on Wednesday, extending gains for a second consecutive session as broad sector strength supported the index. Financial and technology stocks led the advance, with UniCredit (+2.3%), Intesa Sanpaolo (+1.4%), Leonardo SpA (+1.4%), Enel (+0.7%), Eni (+1%), and STMicroelectronics (+1.5%) posting notable gains. Further bolstering sentiment, Italy’s Parliament approved the government’s 2026 budget, which includes measures aimed at reducing the deficit to 2.8% of GDP, down from the previously projected 3%, meeting European Union expectations. The budget, totaling roughly €22 billion, prioritizes support for families, employment, businesses, and healthcare.
