The CAC 40 advanced 0.7% to close at 8,168 on Tuesday, with banking shares leading gains during the final week of the year. Societe Generale climbed 2.1%, while BNP Paribas rose 1.1% and Credit Agricole gained 1%. Thales added 1.2% after securing a major UK contract to deliver next generation portable autonomous command centers for the Royal Navy, while Airbus rose 1.5%, lifting the broader aerospace and defence sector. In basic resources, ArcelorMittal advanced 0.9%. On the downside, Essilor slipped 0.2%, followed by Schneider Electric and Publicis, both down 0.1%. The CAC 40 remains near record highs and is on track to post a gain of more than 10% in 2025.
