30 December 2025, 09:12  India: Equities Muted in Early Trade.

The BSE Sensex was almost flat, hovering around 84,704 in early deals on Tuesday after retreating for four consecutive sessions, amid persistent foreign capital outflows and thin year-end volumes. Gains in metal and auto stocks offset declines in technology, pharmaceutical, and financial services shares. Foreign investors net sold Indian shares worth INR 27.6 billion ($307 million) on Monday, according to provisional data, marking their biggest single-day selling in about three weeks. The Nifty 50 was almost unchanged, while small-caps and mid-caps dropped 0.2% and 0.1%, respectively. Traders also looked ahead to the Fed’s meeting minutes and initial jobless claims due later this week. Meanwhile, Wall Street closed in the red overnight amid growing concerns over AI-related companies. Mahindra & Mahindra rose 1.4%, Tata Motors gained 1.3%, and JSW Steel climbed 0.8%, while Bajaj Finserv and Kotak Mahindra Bank fell 0.8% and 0.6%, respectively.
