23 December 2025, 23:37  USA: S&P 500 Set for Fresh Highs.

The S&P 500 rose about 0.5% on Tuesday afternoon to test fresh record highs, with the Nasdaq also gaining roughly 0.5% and the Dow adding around 180 points, as technology and energy stocks led a broad-based advance. Megacaps were mostly higher, led by Nvidia’s 2.5% gain, while Microsoft and Apple rose 0.3% each, Amazon added 1.3%, Meta advanced 0.3%, Alphabet climbed 1.3%, and Broadcom gained 2.2%. In contrast, real estate and consumer staples underperformed. Shares of Eli Lilly swung between gains and losses after the US Food and Drug Administration approved Novo Nordisk’s weight-loss pill. Earlier in the session, markets were more cautious as investors digested strong economic data that reinforced expectations the Fed will keep rates steady in January, while also raising questions over whether economic resilience could delay the resumption of rate cuts next year. A delayed report showed the US economy expanded at an annualized 4.3% in the third quarter, the fastest pace in two years.
