23 December 2025, 14:06 India: Sensex Closes Slightly Negative.
India's BSE Sensex closed marginally down at 85,524.8 on Tuesday, snapping a two-session winning run, as foreign institutional investors (FIIs) returned to selling mode and fresh triggers remained scarce ahead of year-end. While an improving domestic demand outlook provides underlying support, uncertainty around global trade negotiations will continue to influence sentiment. Meanwhile, Investors were positioning for the next earnings season and monitoring evolving Fed policy expectations. Among single stocks, ITC, UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank and NTPC were among the top gainers, up to 1.4%. On the downside, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports, Sun Pharma, and Axis Bank were the biggest laggards, with losses extending up to 1.5%.
