Private house approvals in Australia fell 2.1% month-on-month to 9,251 units in October 2025, reversing a downwardly revised 3.2% increase in the previous month, according to preliminary estimates. Approvals for private-sector houses declined in most states, with falls in Victoria (-6.6%), New South Wales (-2.2%), South Australia (-0.5%), and Western Australia (-0.1%). Queensland was the only state to record an increase, rising 2.7% in October. On an annual basis, private house approvals rose 1.3%.
