18 December 2025, 09:35 India: Stocks Flat in Morning Trade.
The BSE Sensex was almost flat, trading around 84,528 in Thursday morning trade, after three consecutive sessions of losses, as gains in materials, energy, and tech sectors, as well as banking and consumer durables stocks, offset falls in auto, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and oil & gas stocks. The broader index was supported by foreign investors turning buyers and a rebound in the rupee, after it had fallen in the previous three sessions amid concerns over foreign outflows and the currency weakening to record lows due to uncertainty over a US–India trade deal. However, foreign investors snapped an eight-session selling streak on Wednesday, net buying shares worth INR 11.72 billion (USD 129.7 million), according to provisional data. Meanwhile, mid-cap stocks were flat, while small-cap stocks fell by 0.5%. Infosys rose 1.3%, Axis Bank climbed 0.8%, and TCS gained 0.7%, while Sun Pharmaceuticals, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Tata Motors dropped by 2.3%, 1.6%, and 1.4%, respectively.
