16 December 2025, 21:04 France: CAC 40 Dips on Tuesday.
The CAC 40 fell 0.2% to close at 8,106 on Tuesday, reversing modest gains from the previous session as investors remained cautious ahead of key economic releases and broader European data. Defense names weakened on renewed optimism around Russia–Ukraine peace prospects, with Thales and Airbus off 1.6% amid reassessments of future military spending. Cyclical pressure extended elsewhere: STMicroelectronics slid 1.8% and Dassault Systemes eased 0.9% as mixed signals on global growth weighed on tech and industrial exposure. TotalEnergies lost 1.8% amid tumbling oil prices. On the upside, Kering rose 1.9% after agreeing to sell a majority stake in its Fifth Avenue property to Ardian for $690 million, retaining 40% ownership. LVMH also outperformed adding 1.7%, while Banking stocks edged slightly higher. On the macro front, France’s flash PMIs showed continued expansion with manufacturing beating forecasts and services staying above 50, reinforcing that growth remains intact.
