London's FTSE 100 extended gains to close about 1.1% firmer at 9,751 on Monday, the highest since mid-November, moving in tandem with other European peers. Investors braced for a busy week of economic data, alongside policy decisions from central banks including the Bank of England, which is expected to cut rates by 25bps. China's exposed stocks such as Airtel Africa (+4%), Prudential (+3.2%) and Burberry Group (+3%) gained after Beijing signaled economic support. China is set to increase financial support for key consumption areas, with a focus on consumer finance services for durable goods and digital products. Copper miner Antofagasta (+3.7%) also benefited from higher prices of copper. On the flip side, precious metals miner Fresnillo (-1.8%) and Rightmove (-1.2%) were the biggest laggards. Hikma Pharmaceuticals shed 0.9% after announcing that its chief executive Riad Mishlawi had left the group by mutual agreement.
