12 December 2025, 21:58 France: CAC 40 Closes the Week Lower.
The CAC 40 fell 0.2% to close at 8,069 on Friday, reversing gains that had taken it to a four-week high as concerns over tech valuations resurfaced after Broadcom plunged when its AI chip sales outlook disappointed despite beating Q4 results. Capgemini bottomed the index after sliding 2.8% while Essilor, Schneider Electric and Legrand were among the top laggards, each losing between 1% and 1.6%. Financial heavyweights gave back earlier gains to finish firmly lower. Elsewhere Renault jumped 2.4% and Accor rose 1.3% while STMicroelectronics added 1.7% in an effort to offset losses. Investor sentiment remained supported by the Federal Reserve’s recent interest rate cut, which arrived as expected and was accompanied by a less hawkish outlook than markets had anticipated. Annual inflation was 0.9% in November 2025, unchanged from October and confirming preliminary estimates. Over the week the index posted a loss of 0.5%.
