10 December 2025, 10:09 Australia: Stocks End Slightly Lower.
The S&P/ASX 200 edged 0.1% lower to close at 8,579 on Wednesday, marking its third consecutive sessions of losses, weighed down by declines in tech stocks and financials. Technology shares dropped 1.5% to a two-week low, as Wisetech (-1.9%), Technology One (-1.3%), and Xero (-2.1%) followed their Wall Street peers lower, while the financial sector fell 0.4%, with three of the “Big Four” banks ending in the red. Market sentiment remained subdued after the RBA left the cash rate unchanged and dashed hopes for further monetary policy easing. Investors are now focused on Australia’s November jobs data due Thursday, while globally, markets await the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision later today, with expectations for a 25 bps cut. Meanwhile, gold stocks climbed 4.1%, its best intraday gain since September 22, buoyed by higher bullion prices amid optimism over a potential Fed rate cut, while the broader mining sector advanced 1.5%.
