Retail sales in Slovakia rose by 1.4% year-on-year in September 2025, rebounding from a 0.7% decline in the previous month. This marked the highest level of retail activity since December 2024 as sales increased for automotive fuel (0.7% vs 0.5% in August) and other goods in specialized stores (8.1% vs 4.7%). At the same time, sales rebounded for ICT equipment (12.5% vs -2.9%), while purchases declined softer for food, beverages, and tobacco (-10.7% vs -14.7%), other household equipment (-0.1% vs -5.6%), and trade outside stores, stalls, or markets (-1.5% vs -12.5%). In contrast, sales growth eased for goods sold in non-specialized stores (0.7% vs 4.4%), while purchases declined further for cultural and recreational goods (-5.8% vs -3.5%) and sales via stalls and markets (-21.7% vs -10.8%). On a monthly basis, retail trade increased by 1.6% in September, following a flat reading in the preceding period.
